Mr. Smye is a well-known trial lawyer throughout Southern Ontario. He is known for his aggressive and energetic representation of his clients. He has had extensive trial experience having successfully argued numerous jury and non-jury lawsuits resulting in very substantial multimillion dollar awards. Mr. Smye and the lawyers at Mackesy, Smye believe that generous and fair settlements can be achieved because the insurance industry knows that if a fair settlement is not offered, then a team of skillful, experienced, seasoned lawyers led by Mr. Smye, will take the case to trial. Mr. Smye believes that great settlements are achieved through a careful trial preparation which begins the moment the client-lawyer relationship begins.
We have a wide network of expert witnesses that we call upon as consultants, including forensic economists, forensic engineers, physicians, surgeons, occupational therapists, rehabilitative specialists, and physiotherapists which are utilized in building the case for early settlement.
The opponents know that if a fair settlement is not offered, we will successfully try the case through to a verdict. All lawyers call themselves trial lawyers, but most rarely, if ever, go to trial. David Smye has earned the reputation of a real trial lawyer.
